Rise Up #018 – GORGON CITY

artworks-000070829436-hsxi0j-t500x500

Great mix by Gorgon City, definitely a 90’s sound modernized with some hard hitting bass. Press play and enjoy an hour of great music.

Gorgon City are North London producers Matt & Kye. Their already distinctive sound is a logical development of the duo’s individual work as RackNRuin and Foamo. Hailing from the impressive Black Butter camp (who brought you Rudimental amongst others) and due to release their debut album in 2014 as a joint venture with Virgin / EMI, the pair are one of the most exciting and hotly tipped new acts in the ever-flourishing landscape of British club savvy pop.
Gorgon City offered up a platform for the two producers to fuse the deeper sounds they’ve been excited by for years but until now didn’t have the opportunity to explore. Polished, powerful and party-minded, their sound very quickly caught the attention of tastemakers as disparate as; Annie Mac, Diplo, Eats Everything and Mistajam with their early explorations into this new venture.

BPM 2014 Replay – Playa Del Carmen

bpm2014bpm 2014

Here’s a mini-recap of our BPM experience, along with some of the best recorded mixes from this year’s BPM holiday. BPM Festival takes place January 3rd-12th. Mx.

Arriving to Playa Del Carmen was interesting, a shared van-ride almost took 3 hours from the airport, from waiting for the next van to dropping off other passengers at their resorts and re-routing due to flooded streets from the tropical showers we endured through the week. This is where it gets awesome, I arrived at the hotel nearly at 1am, they had cancelled my hotel reservation. Luckily for me they had an extra room and honored my orig. pricing(lesson learned: fly in early and take a bus to PDC, my bad). Eff, I was ready to party! I headed out to main strip and was greeted by party-goers, bars, clubs and restaurants, a felt this special vibe, ahhh BPM!! The collected parties I chose to attend on my short stay was All Day I Dream w/ Lee Burridge & Mathew Dekay, Marco Corola @ Mamitas, No.19 Music w/ Art Department, Pets Recordings w/ Catz N Dogz, Heidi, Danny Daze, Thugfucker, Life and Death Party w/ Tale Of Us, Mano Le Tough, Recondite, Dj Tennis, and Thugfucker and managed to swing by Richie Hawtin & Dubfire’s pop up set at El Fogon. Overall, I rested, read a book(lol), ate good food, went to Tulum and enjoyed the music. Not to mention they had a pretty handy app, that has lineups, maps, tickets, live radio and you could also upload your BPM photos. Will I go again? YUP!! Plenty to see, wished I stayed longer, till next time. Next stop Miami. 😉 _Alex

Rone live in the Boiler Room x Nuits Sonores

Rone is so legit in melodic techno, it’s not even funny. We first heard of Rone, as part of the Modyfier process series, lets just say we were hooked and very aware of how beautiful some of this stuff can be.

Magda – Crackcast 49

Download Magda – Crackcast 49

Magda has been one of favorites artists at Visao Media. Having seen her a couple times; Burningman, Sunset Treasure Island and Monarch, SF, she really brings a textural techno sound you have to hear in person to understand. Hears a recent mix, if you’re looking to swim in the ocean of intellectual fish.

“Magda is a typically indefinable character. Commandeering her own sound alongside label Items & Things she runs with Marc Houle and Troy Pierce, Magda’s multi layered sounds signify a refusal to sit still, a determination to constantly push boundaries. From neck snapping funk to sporadic acid and future disco, the metallic feel of stripped back Detroit techno runs through like a watermark. Check out Magda’s eclectic excellence in this installment to our crackcast series ahead of her performance at Sonus Festival in Croatia this weekend.” reposted by Crack Magazine

Crack Magazine’s first mix was done by non-other than Julio Bashmore.

Defected In The House Radio 29.7.13 – Guest Mix Frankie Knuckles

You always depend on something once a year, superb music from the Defected Label and some classic to add to your library. Here’s a special guest mix from the legend in house music, Mr. Frankie Knuckles.

Here’s two extra goodies for visiting.

Autoclave – HerA$$ment (Stone Owl Remix) – (FREE DOWNLOAD)

Another great installment from Anabatic records. You can always expect high quality productions from this label as we have always been a fan and always keep one of the EP tracks on heavy rotation in our mixes. The Detroit based Autoclave EP comes with a variety of Nu Bass with an older feel. Not only do these tracks move the dancefloor, but hit the SUBs hard in all the oldschool rides. Stone Owl delivers an awesome remix of HerA$$ment which makes this EP a winner. Push Play.

“On track two we have HERA$$MENT. From start to finish, the bass-heavy wall-shaking track hits harder than a boxing kangaroo. This must-have banger of a track will instantly transform your party into a Detroit party, rife with jitting, juking, breaking and even a little Harlem Shaking. Make sure to apply “HerA$$ment” liberally to all affected areas, such as nightclubs, after hours clubs, daytime parties, and your car and iPod in between. When you notice the dance floor filling up with beautiful women dancing provocatively, you’ll know “HerA$$ment” is working. So whether you’re a DJ preparing for gigs, or a fan who just wants to dance, get ready to drop “HerA$$ment” and witness the kind of magic they won’t teach you at Hogwarts.

Not to sell this EP short we have booty tech legend DJ Assault on the remix of Hotel Room. What better producer to give this dirty track a remix. Assault perfectly gives it his classic twist to this tune as only Assault can do. It hits in all of the right spots and rounds out this EP perfectly.”_Worthy

Sacha Robotti :: 100 % Robotti Mix

“Hi there! This is a mix I made of originals and remixes which I created in the last 12 months – stuff that came out on labels like Klasse, Dirtybird, Gruuv, Made To Play, but also some unreleased music and unsigned music. To me this “100%” means that I produced the music myself or in collaboration with friends I support 100%.
Enjoy! Much love. X”
